Effective October 1, 2001, Upsilon Pi Epsilon will raise its one-time membership fee. The fee will increase from $25 to $35. Each new member will continue to receive a membership certificate. New student members will continue to receive a free one-year membership in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the ACM's flagship monthly magazine, the Communications of the ACM. New members will also receive a gold UPE keypin, starting in October 2001. The pin normally sells for $15. Current members can purchase a UPE keypin and other UPE memorabilia through the chapter or the UPE web site.

At the recent UPE Annual Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, UPE signed a formal partnership agreement with the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), one of the world's largest professional organization for computer professionals. This agreement will provide special benefits to UPE including a free one-year student membership in ACM for all active UPE members. This membership will entitle the student to receive regular ACM publications and reduced registration fees to ACM conferences and symposia. An optional fee of $10 will allow the student full access to the entire collection of the ACM Digital Library for one year.
