CS 603 - Wireless Sensor Systems - Spring 2004

Project Topics

The projects may be done in groups of  atmost two students. When you reached your decision, please inform the instructor about it.  Note that the request is served in a ``first-come-first-served'' order and only one group may be allowed to complete each project. Your choice has to be made  by  the end of the first three weeks of classes. Projects involving implementations, tinyOS, eCOS, RTOS, and network simulations using ns2 or opnet are strongly encouraged. Recall that you are also free to choose  a project topic of your own as long as it is related to the course material and it is approved by the instructor.

The following list suggests preferred project topics/areas. It is no particular order. It is strongly encouraged.

This list may be updated and hence browse it frequently. Last Updated 02-Apr-2004

  1. Mobile location tracker - using motes, PDAs (iPAQs), TinyOS, NesC and Java.
  2. Remote monitoring - using motes, PDAs, cellphones, TinyOS, NesC and Java.
  3. Integrating WSNs in distributed computing/grid or vice versa
  4. MPI/PVM adaptations to WSNs
  5. Investigate lightweight threads for computing in sensor networks
  6. Explore limitations of wireless sensor networks
  7. Directed diffusion and mobile agents
  8. Collaborative image processing using WSNs
  9. DENSe: a Development Environment for Networked Sensors
  10. Enhance ns2 to allow simulation of integrated satellite, wireless and wired networks, and WSNs
  11. Development of wireless security testing system
  12. Porting Linux to PDAs and their use in WSNs
