With our Theory and Analysis major, students earn a "Bachelor of Science in Computer Science - Theory and Analysis". This program has been accredited by the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board and provides a rigorous study of computer science and related areas (including a minor in mathematics). This degree is recommended for students who plan to pursue advanced degrees in computer science, who are interested in doing research in the computing sciences, and those seeking employment with companies which produce computer hardware or software.
Our alternative General C.S. major leads to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. (This program also requires a mathematics minor). This program of study will prepare students who wish to work as programmers or in product development and support areas of companies whose major products are not directly related to computer hardware or software.
The Department also offers two different C.S. minors, a science option minor (e.g., for Physics, Engineering, Math, etc. majors) and a general option minor (e.g., for Communications, Sociology, Business, etc. majors).
