To Orientation Students (2012):
The Department of Computer Science has established a laptop requirement for its majors, which is included in the 2009/10 WMU Catalog. The chart above lists minimal requirements for a laptop that should suffice for your needs during four years of study in Computer Science.
Packages may be purchased through TotalTECH located in the WMU Bookstore. You may choose to wait until fall or spring term to make a laptop purchase. First-year computer science classes are supported by university laboratories, so you can postpone your decision of buying a laptop until spring. The Computer Science Department also provides assistance with software installation and through the Microsoft Development Network provides considerable development software (including operating systems) at no additional cost to you.
