TENTATIVE PLAN

Home Work I : Assigned: January 11, 2008, Due Date: January 29, 2008 (10:00 AM)

Home Work II : Assigned: Jan 29, 2008, Due Date: Feb 12 14, 2008 (10:00 AM)

Home Work III : Assigned: Feb 16, 2008, Due Date: Feb 28, 2008 March 11, 2008 (10:00 AM)

Exam 1 : February 28, 2008; closed book; closed notes; covers material up to February 27, 2008 lecture, see topics covered and reading assignments. An excellent way to prepare would be to solve the problems in the book in chapters 1-4 (especially the ones related to specific topics covered in class); understand the material (in contrast to simply memorizing); understand the implications of various formulations, similarities and differences among various techniques and features; reading the appropriate sections of the book; understanding and doing the homework and programming assignments yourself (in contrast to simply modifying the examples slightly and making them work)...

Home Work IV : Assigned: March 17 2008, Due Date: March 27, 2008 (10:00 AM)

Home Work V : Assigned: March 27, 2008, Due Date: April 15, 2008 (10:00 AM) – postponed to 4/16/08, 4:00pm - no late submissions accepted, all pending work must be turned in. by April 16, 2008, 4:00pm (hard deadline).

Exam 2 (Final) : Wednesday, April 23, 2008 (08:00-10:00am) closed book; closed notes; comprehensive exam; covers material up to April 19, 2007 lecture, see topics covered and reading lists. Excellent way to prepare would be to solve the problems in the book in chapters 1-8 (especially the ones related to specific topics covered in class and doing HW1-HW5 (again) and introductory problem on NP/NPC from the textbook and class notes yourself).
